Applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Donald B. Gamblin Scholarship. The Scholarship fund was originally created by the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary and is now funded by the FOP, FOPA and citizen donations. $500.00 is awarded to one student each year towards their college education in honor of Officer Gamblin and his service. Applications are being accepted through Monday, May 6, 2024 at 5pm. Download the application below.

On July 13,1991 Shawnee, KS Officer Donald B. Gamblin was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop on I-435. Officer Gamblin left behind his wife, Ana, his daughter- Pamela Farrar and three sons- Donald B. Gamblin III, Steven Combs and Matt Gamblin.
If you or anyone you know would like to make a donation to the Scholarship Fund in his memory, you may do so by contacting Nick Shurmantine at nshurmantine@cityofshawnee.org.

Please submit completed applications in a sealed envelope marked ONLY with “FOPA Scholarship Application”. Please DO NOT put your name on the outside of the envelope. Again, the deadline for applications is Monday, May 6, 2024 at 5pm. Applications may be placed in the FOPA mail box located in Records at the Shawnee Police Department.
